Enfield motorcycles have been associated with long-distance touring for a long time now. The high low-end torque of the engine and great fuel efficiency make them one of the first choices for touring enthusiasts. However, there are many great RE alternatives that you can choose from, for long-distance rides. Here are six such bikes available in India.


Yamaha Fazer250


Price: Rs. 1.29 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi
Why? The Fazer 250 comes with Yamaha’s reliability and is known for its smooth engine.
The Fazer 250 is based on the FZ25 that was launched last year. The fully-faired bike shares all the parts with the FZ25 and gets a fairing. The fairing protects the rider against windblasts and keeps the bike stable at high speed. The motorcycle gets an all-LED head lamp system and an aggressive design but the motorcycle is a good choice for long-distance touring. The Fazer 250 is powered by a 249-cc, oil-cooled plus air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that generates 20.4 BHP of power and 20 Nm of maximum torque.

Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220


Price: Rs. 95,923, ex-showroom, Delhi
Why? It is a VFM product and gets raw power. Also, affordable to maintain.
The Bajaj Avenger brand has been around for a while in the market now, and the 180-cc version of the bike is the cheapest cruiser that you can buy in India. The Cruise variant of the motorcycle comes with spoke wheels and a big windscreen. The spoke wheels take on rough roads easily, while the windscreen makes highway cruising much better.
The Avenger Cruise comes with a 220-cc engine that produces a maximum power of 18.8 BHP and 17.5 Nm of maximum torque. The Bajaj Avenger 150 is also available in the market but the Avenger 220 is much more suited for long-distance riding because of its bigger engine.

Mahindra Mojo

Why? The Mojo offers great a balance and gets a tireless engine.
The most expensive Mahindra motorcycle at the moment is a very underrated product. The Mojo is powered by a 295-cc engine that produces a maximum power of 27 BHP and 30 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and is very smooth to use.
The Mahindra Mojo comes with a huge 21-litre tank, making it long-distance friendly. Mojo also gets Pirelli tyres that are super sticky and give the rider confidence. It is also a very well balanced motorcycle and comes with a relaxed riding position.

Bajaj Dominar 400

The Bajaj Dominar 400 is marketed as a power cruiser by the brand and has a lot of fans in the market. The bike gets raw power from the 373-cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that generates a maximum of 34.5 Bhp and 35 Nm.
The bike comes with a full LED head lamp set-up that is extremely bright and comes in very handy during night drives. The Dominar carries a price tag of Rs. 1.36 lakh for the non-ABS version and Rs. 1.5 lakh for the ABS variant. The comfortable riding position, powerful engine and fuel injection make it one of the best long-distance riding bikes available in the market.

UM Renegade


Price: Rs. 1.82 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi

The UM Renegade is a lesser-known motorcycle in India. It comes in two variants – Sport S and Commando. The Commando comes with an optional windscreen and spoke wheels that help make highway cruising easy. The Renegade is powered by a single-cylinder, 279-cc engine that produces 25.4 BHP and 23 Nm. The Renegade is similar to the Avenger but with more power. It has a very comfortable seating position and a backrest for pillion riders, as well.

Honda CBR 250


Price: Rs. 1.64 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi

Recently, Honda launched an updated version of the sports tourer CBR250R, in India. The bike seems to be inspired by the brand’s most expensive tourer bike – VFR1200F. The new CBR 250 comes with an all-LED head lamp but the rest of the bike remains similar to the outgoing version. The fully-faired bike gets an extremely comfortable riding position and enough power to cruise at triple-digit speed all day long. It is powered by a 249.6-cc liquid-cooled engine that generates a maximum of 26.1 Bhp and 22.9 Nm.
